Our Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) has just undergone a massive facelift and as part of their reopening, they have a video installation called “The Clock” by Christian Marclay. He has taken clips from movies across every era, genre and language and pulled together a 24-hour real-time sequence where every minute is reflected in the movie clip – either it is referenced verbally or via a clock or watch showing the time is shown… WOW! We sat through it mesmerised for over an hour. It is astonishing and intriguing and you can’t really fathom the work and research that must have gone into the creation of this project. What was amazing for me is how he has created themes, myth and story despite the disparate elements all linked together and this makes it all the more compelling for us.
A must see
